In the mood for some FUN ? Mischief ?
Thought that Chandigarh didn’t have a nice lounge where people can eat, drink and enjoy good music? Well it’s time to reconsider.
Everyone’s heard of this place called ZINC but nobody actually bothers to go there!

Where:
It’s nicely tucked behind Noodle Bar which is in SECTOR 26 amongst all the restaurants on Madhya Marg.

What:
Diner, English, Indian, Continental, International, Pasta, Dessert
(yes I put the cuisine under “what” !!)

Ambience:
For a lounge I would give it better than better but not perfectly up to the mark. (On a scale of good
The place is nicely done up with a nice atmosphere along with a mixture of urban lighting style.

Food and Liquids:
The food here is simply lip smacking!!!
Any thing you would order here is up to the mark and delivers whatever is listed on the menu.
The drinks are tastefully made with the right ingredients and generally the waiter asks for your preferences from the smallest details for it to suit your needs.

Space:
Well, now the space here is very efficiently used with smartly placed tables and their “Divisions Made”

Music:
The music is super pulsating. Super loud and Super Good!!! This is where Zinc scores from other places in Chandigarh, as it captures you with its acoustic abilities. The DJ keeps spinning house cum retro-trance, so that keeps your spirits high!
I had the impression that one would not be able to talk there, but if you try hard enough you can!

The Walk! :
Once you walk in to Zinc, you obviously have to walk in first through Noodle Bar. Walking through noodle bar is a fairly pleasant experience as compared to what’s going to hit you on the other side. Now, Noodle bar finishes, and then there’s a square division cum cabin.

Divisions:
This first division of zinc has a little less influence of music and is a quieter place for business talks or professional meetings. Its’ enclosed on a glass wall with a dedicated wall of video footage.
The next division is of the bar. It has high tables and chairs to give you the complete feeling of a bar; alongside to that you have low lying comfortable sofas.
We also have the DJ console here.
And the last division is a normal sit down , resto-lounge with an enclosure for a bigger occasion.

Established in February 2000, Barista Lavazza is noted as a pioneer of Indian café culture. The Barista Lavazza chain of espresso bars delivers a truly Italian coffee experience in warm, friendly and relaxed environment. It aims to provide a comfortable place for people to unwind over interesting conversations and a cup of coffee. Barista Lavazza consists of young adults, who are exposed to global lifestyles and appreciate the authentic flavors and tastes of coffee. At last count, the Barista Coffee Company Limited has over 200 Barista Lavazza Espresso Bars and Barista Lavazza Crèmes in over 30 cities across India. Barista is owned by Lavazza, Italy’s largest coffee company. Lavazza, the sixth largest coffee roaster in the world, has a 46.5% share in the Italian retail market (value, source: Nielsen) and operates in over 80 countries in the Home and Away- from-Home sectors.

In English, barista is a name applied to a person, usually a coffeehouse employee, who prepares and serves espresso-based coffee drinks. The word is borrowed from Italian, where it has a wider meaning of “bartender”. The term persists in American coffeehouse jargon, with many employers such as Starbucks officially utilizing the title for such employees. Often, among coffee enthusiasts, the term is reserved for one who has acquired some level of expertise or particular skill in the preparation of such drinks. Within certain circles, its meaning is expanding to include what might be called a “coffeesommelier” — a professional who is highly skilled in coffee preparation with a comprehensive understanding of coffee, coffee blends, espresso, quality, coffee varieties, roast degree, espresso equipment and maintenance.

The word barista is basically of Italian origin. In Italy, a barista is a male or female “bartender”, who typically works behind a counter, serving both hot drinks (such as espresso), and cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The plural in English is baristas, while in Italian the plural is baristi for masculine or mixed sex (baristi: “barmen”, “bartenders”) or bariste for feminine (baristi: “barmaids”).

There Philosophy

Barista Lavazza provides all they can to make every guest feel comfortable and welcome. They serve nothing but the finest Arabica coffees and cuisine at great value prices. They have friendly and efficient brew masters who believe in service with a smile. And provide a cheerful, interactive ambience that makes guests wish their coffee breaks lasted just a little bit longer. To share their cup of joy, they have always stuck to their Italian roots, guarding them zealously to ensure that their espresso bars reflect the warmth and character of traditional Italian coffee houses. And in the process, make Barista Lavazza the place ‘where the world meets’. Their aim is to passionately deliver the highest levels of experiential services. Maintain consistency in serving the highest quality products and become a globally competitive organization – one that is driven by an insatiable thirst for excellence.

Coffee-know how

Every cup at barista lavazza is brewed using the espresso method. Recognized by connoisseurs as the best way to extract the flavor and aroma of each coffee bean. Espresso forms the base of all coffees they’re infinite variations to suit every taste.

KNOW MORE ABOUT YOUR COFFEE

ESPRESSO ITALIANO:

SHORT, dark and handsome, this Italian original is not to be confused with the milky, frothy drink that has assumed the same name in India. Filling just half a demitasse cup, espresso is rich in aroma, acidity and body. Italians are known to sweeten their espresso with sugar and drink it quietly: like an alcoholic short.

ESPRESSO MACCHIATO

Macchiato stands for “marked”. Here the espresso is marked with a teaspoon of foamed milk or sometimes a dash of cold milk. This bridges the gap between the very intense espressos italiano and the milkier cappuccino.

CAPPUCCINO

The crowding glory. One of Italy’s greatest inventions; it features the inimitable. Espresso toped with steamed milk and formed milk in a thick cup to contain the flavor and warmth. Though traditionally served without embellishment, one could add a sprinkling of chocolate or cinnamon powder.

CAFFE LATTE

A drink that originated in seatle, USA. Served in mugs, it’s made with shorts of espresso and steamed with a small amount of foam.

CAFFE MOCHA

A wickedly extravagant combination of intense espresso, freshly steamed milk and rich syrup, with a topping of sweet chocolate powder and optional whipped cream. Often referred to as “dessert in a cup”.

Innovation

Barista Lavazza is a 3 dimensional brand experience. Their focus has always been to provide a differentiated offering. They do this by using a guest touch point model that focus on the product innovation, refreshing ambience and warm service. At Barista Lavazza, they launch a new line of food and beverage – every quarter. The launches are based on international trends, guest feedback and internal research. They claim to continue their innovations along these lines and launch products that delight their guests. There target audience has a global lifestyle and a truly international outlook. The guests appreciate the truly international line of beverages served at Barista Lavazza and the warm environment. The focus is on innovation and continuity in providing guest relevant experiences within the Barista Lavazza store.

Place :

Sector 35-C , Chandigarh

Venue :

CREPE Station

Cuisine :

Continental, Crepes, Snacks and Breakfast items

Must tries :

Waffles, Creps, Shakes, Continental/Italian dishes

Ambiance :

Good

Space :

Alright now, this place is good but am sure that a chain restaurant like this could have done much better with the space to accomodate people! If a person goes in to relax and chill easily, well thats not this place!

They have around 7-8 tables in that cubical “restaurant” .
But there generally isn’t a problem sitting, its not totally a cramped up place either !!

Service :

Good

So as soon as me and my friend walked in, we were greeted and seated properly by a waiter and the one thing I must say about this place is that the staff is really good. They know what they’re doing, otherwise at some place the waiters don’t even know what the dishes contain! What i felt was that all of them were well trained and the floor manager especially was very well spoken and educated. Such a thing makes one feel nice and speaks volume of a place.

The time taken for the food we ordered was fairly alright ! It was good. We throughly enjoyed the environment with nice music and a good game of cricket match on their LCD screen.

The food was a little spicy, but i reckon when I went there last time I had mentioned to reduce the spices and voila, as i said , the people there know what they’re doing!!

And Finally……………… The Icing on the whole deal!!

Their Waffles and Their Creps!!!

How can 1 go to The Crep Station and not eat CREPS!!!
They were simply amazing, a unique taste! ( I tried cinnamon, sugar and cream CREP…. thumbs up to that! )

Again Waffles were nicely made……..BUT!!! they took a lot of time… well… around 30mins!! probable because it was 1AM !!! But hey! It was worth the wait!!

All good things come at a price… well in the square restaurant….. some good things come at a price
Its worth spending the money here because you are sure of great food!

A Change well required in Chandigarh ! A must go!

Cheers
