BMW 316d ES

Featuring a modest power strain, this new model will offer a good balance of performance and eco-friendliness. The car truly shines with its 52.3-mpg efficiency, which gives it an edge over other models. The car features four-cylinder diesel and can reach till 116 horsepower with 192 lb.-ft. of torque. Billed as BMW’s most efficient 3-series ever, the 316d ES manages just 118g/km of CO2 emissions and has six-speed manual gearbox. Apart from all this, its top speed is at 125mph and the 0-62mph time is a shade under 11 seconds.

Certainly, each of these new models is more of a status vehicle. If you want to own one, be prepared to pay for that status and luxury. They are well made and designed vehicles, but while you choose the BMW, don’t forget to purchase a BMW extended warranty that can help you in expensive repairs that can be required once the manufacturer’s warranty runs out.

Google Wave

Google Wave is a new communication service previewed today at Google I/O. “A wave is equal parts conversation and document, where people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.”

Google Wave has been designed by the founders of Where 2 Tech, a start-up acquired by Google to create a cutting-edge mapping service, which later became Google Maps.

The service seems to combine Gmail and Google Docs into an interesting free-form workspace that could be used to write documents collaboratively, plan events, play games or discuss a recent news.

“Back in early 2004, Google took an interest in a tiny mapping startup called Where 2 Tech, founded by my brother Jens and me. We were excited to join Google and help create what would become Google Maps. But we also started thinking about what might come next for us after maps. As always, Jens came up with the answer: communication. He pointed out that two of the most spectacular successes in digital communication, email and instant messaging, were originally designed in the ’60s to imitate analog formats — email mimicked snail mail, and IM mimicked phone calls. Since then, so many different forms of communication had been invented — blogs, wikis, collaborative documents, etc. — and computers and networks had dramatically improved. So Jens proposed a new communications model that presumed all these advances as a starting point; I was immediately sold,” explains Lars Rasmussen.

“In Google Wave you create a wave and add people to it. Everyone on your wave can use richly formatted text, photos, gadgets, and even feeds from other sources on the web. They can insert a reply or edit the wave directly. It’s concurrent rich-text editing, where you see on your screen nearly instantly what your fellow collaborators are typing in your wave. That means Google Wave is just as well suited for quick messages as for persistent content — it allows for both collaboration and communication. You can also use “playback” to rewind the wave to see how it evolved.”

After the much successful launch of chrome browser, Google is now coming up with Chrome operating System. In a sudden, if not unexpected, announcement this morning, Google said it would release an open-source operating system based on its Chrome browser. The OS will be free, geared (at first) toward netbooks, and focused on “speed, simplicity, and security. Google Chrome OS would be available online “later this year” as a free, open-source download, while specially tailored netbooks running the operating system are targeted for the second half of 2010. The release will not be a remixed version of the Android phone platform, but a “minimalist user interface,” with more screen space and computer power given over to web applications.

More specifically, Chrome OS is planned to run on x86 and ARM-based processors, and its architecture is described as “Google Chrome running within a new windowing system on top of a Linux kernel.” Developers looking to specifically target the Chrome OS need not apply, as Google says “the web is the platform”—the system will, in other words, run web applications online and offline, and those applications should also work on any standards-based browser on any system

Many who closely watch the search company have predicted a similar move for some time now. To say the Chrome OS will face stiff competition is quite an understatemet, with Intel developing its own lightweight, Linux-based netbook platform, Windows XP emerging as a force in netbook OS share, and Microsoft itself likely to fight tooth and nail to keep yet another upstart from encroaching on the one area of PC sales that is still seeing significant growth.

It’s easy to assume Chrome OS is a strong push to get users familiar with using Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and other web suites, both online and off. It’s harder to figure out the specifics of how Google’s platform will overcome the deeply entrenched Windows familiarity that has kept other Linux-based netbook upstarts mostly in check, and how it will accommodate the vast array of x86 hardware compatibility quirks that plagues Linux distributions to this day. More details and discussions to come, certainly.

We can’t have one of these Alienware curved monitors until the second half of this year, but until then, we’ve been abducted by its four nearly seamless and sharp screens of DLP goodness. Lit by LEDs, this 2880×900 monster is well over three feet wide and is said to have an other-worldly .02ms response time, great for gaming. The Soylent Green: You can see the seams between this monitor’s four segments, but the Alienware humanoids tell us that flaw will be gone by the time this craft lands on Earth. The blacks look a bit washed out to our eyes, too. Price is yet to be determined. Such a refresh rate cannot currently be achieved with LCD so the Alienware uber-monitor employs rear-projection technology and this, unfortunately, results in a rather deep back to the device

You guys must have seen this phone around on the web.

Mobile Phones with projectors built in seem to becoming more mentioned over these last 12 months and here we are with the Samsung SHOW.

Lets get into the tech specs for this one and see how good it really is.

This Quad-Band GSM phone features a 3.2 inch OLED display, 5 megapixel camera, video calling and of course a 10 Lumen Pico projector which can display images up to 50 inches.

The Samsung Show will be known as the W7900 in the US, and i7410 in Europe and other countries

The Show is certainly bulky, most likely owing to the pico projector, which projects an image of a size between 5 to 50″ at a resolution of 480×320 pixels. Lets see how this phone does when it hits the stores this summer. This phone is not really a smart phone.

However it uses Samsung’s latest OS.The phone doesn’t seem user friendly either in terms of the design specifications.

This phone is installed with Texas Instruments’ DLP Pico technology integrated, and consistent with the chipset and built-in projector is a compact touch screen OLED display.

No announcements as far as the prices are concerned.

But this phone really has set a new standard and has opened a new arena for cellphone players to compete in.

Now with basic multimedia and office features common in all low-end and high-end phones there isn’t much left to improve or innovate on that front.

These are the kind of features that really keep the excitement growing.
